JOB TITLE: PROJECT MANAGER
The Ummah Society is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Project Manager (PM). The PM would primarily be responsible for planning, managing, operationalising, and implementing multiple Society projects, particularly the expansion of the Society Daycare. The PM is a supervisory position and entails significant time commitment and flexible working hours to ensure effective execution of projects. The job will also require working and coordinating with Ummah Masjid & Community Center (UMCC) and Maritime Muslim Academy (MMA) staff and other Society resources and work programs. The PM would be the main point of contact for external stakeholders involved with projects under PM’s supervision. The position reports directly to the Executive Director of the Ummah Masjid & Community Center (UMCC). This is a full-time position (40 hours/Week) and comes with competitive salary and benefits.
TERMS & CONDITIONS
- The position is for a fixed term of one year.
- Full-time position involving 40 hours per week with flexible working hours.
- Days of work schedule to be decided according to the agreed upon schedule with the reporting manager.
- Annual salary range is between $60,000 - $70,000.
- Annual salary will be determined based on experience.
- Education: A university or college degree or equivalent with a proven track record demonstrating solid managerial and leadership attributes.
- Experience: Three years of experience in managing projects, preferably within non-profit organization.
- Experience in working with faith-based and/or community organisations is a definite asset.
- Verbal communication: Job requires the ability to speak in English. Command of a second language such as Arabic is certainly an asset.
- Written communication: Ability to write reports and provide financial reconciliation is considered an important asset for this position.
- Diversity: Experience working in a multilingual, multicultural, and diverse community setting would be a significant plus.
- Teamwork: A dynamic, flexible, and team approach to work with moderate-to-high level of information technology literacy and technical know-how are essential.

- Defining project objectives, project scope, and roles & responsibilities of stakeholders involved.
- Defining resource requirements and managing resource availability & allocation -- both internal and with stakeholders.
- Outlining a budget based on requirements and tracking costs to deliver projects on budget.
- Preparing detailed project plans to schedule key project milestones, workstreams & activities.
- Managing delivery of the project according to a plan approved by the reporting manager.
- Tracking projects and providing regular reports on project status to project team and key stakeholders.
- Managing and adjusting for any changes in project scope, schedule and/or budget.
- Identifying and mitigating potential project-related hazards and risks.
- Managing relationships and communicating with relevant stakeholders in order to ensure timely delivery of required tasks while maintaining professional standards.
- The PM shall manage all components of the project including construction, infrastructure, as well as overseeing any future construction that will be undertaken that is related to the project.
- The PM shall initiate, manage, and actively engage, along with the staff and the Board, in any related matters associated with the project.
- The PM shall be responsible for the execution of the project and managing the activities and timeline of the project.
- The PM is responsible for all Human Resources (HR), related to the project.
- The Project Manager shall supervise, monitor, and coordinate work and activities done by external contractors including third parties.
- The Project Manager shall not cause or allow any organizational practice, activity, decision, or circumstances, which either (i) unlawful, (ii) imprudent, or (iii) in violation of best practices, the Ummah Society policies and procedures or the commonly accepted business and professional ethics, subject to the provisions of the applicable law.
- The PM should be responsible for other duties as may arise from time to time and as may be assigned to the Employee.
