Anti-Bullying Workshop for Muslim Youth
This workshop will help youth develop healthy responses to bullying by building resilience, fostering a positive self-image, and exploring healing through creative expression and art. Participants will gain practical tools to navigate challenges and strengthen their confidence in a supportive environment!
Facilitators:
Hanaa Rashid:
Hanaa Rashid holds a Master of Education from Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, NS, and a Master of Social Work from Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS. With over a decade of experience, she has worked with individuals and families across diverse settings, including hospitals, community centers, settlement services, schools, and private practice.
Trained in various therapeutic modalities and evidence-based parenting programs, Hanaa is also a certified trainer in restorative practices. She has a particular passion for supporting immigrant families, employing a holistic approach that considers cultural contexts influencing individuals and families.
Stephanie Garvey:
Stephanie is a Master’s-level practicum student with a strong foundation in social work, art therapy, trauma recovery, and personal lived experience. She brings over 15 years of experience in the NGO sector and holds a Bachelor of Social Services. Guided by a humanistic perspective and an integrative, trauma-informed approach, Stephanie is dedicated to supporting the diverse needs of individuals—psychological, emotional, physical, and spiritual—fostering holistic healing and personal growth.
Sylvia Calatayud:
Sylvia is certified in Art Therapy from Kutenai Art Therapy Institute, Trauma-Informed Expressive Therapist and Integrative Somatic Therapy. She has a masters degree in Adult Education. She is a Mount Saint Vincent University professor and works in the settlement and immigration sector. Sylvia facilitates workshops on Cultural Humility, Diversity and Inclusion, Addressing Unconscious Bias, and Participatory Photography for community and service organizations and research projects. She does collaborative research using an Art-Based Research methodology.
