  • Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest, provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
  • Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and washroom habits.
  • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor.
  • Establish guidelines for behavior.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co workers and community service providers working with children.
  • Assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members. Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well being of children.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures with all activities.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Day Nurseries Act and licensing regulations.
  • Early Childhood Educator certificate
  • Emergency Child Care First Aid Certificate
  • CPR Certificate

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate: Halifax, NS: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

  • Daycare: 3 years (preferred)
  • Supervising: 1 year (preferred)
